We invite all members of the campus community to sign this petition: faculty, students, staff, administrators, retirees, alumni, community members, and anyone else who uses and cares about UC libraries. (This is the same petition that has been circulated in paper copies. If you have already signed a paper copy, please do not sign again online.)

UC Librarians are currently bargaining with the University on economic issues such as salaries, benefits, and other compensation. Librarians provide services that are essential to the teaching and research mission of the University and are key to the success of all students and faculty. Like all UC academics, UC librarians are leaders in their fields. Yet salaries for UC librarians are well below those paid to their counterparts at the CSUs and California community colleges.

We, the undersigned, are concerned members of the campus community who urge the University to act now to offer UC Librarians fair and competitive salaries, benefits, and other reasonable compensation afforded other employees of the University.
